Luke Davenport's run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Purple Bulldogs the nonconference win Saturday.

Fayetteville put two on with one out thanks to an error and a walk, and Davenport came through with a single up the middle to snap a 3-3 tie.

Davenport finished 2-for-2 with a double and drove in three run for the Purple'Dogs, who managed just five hits in the game.

Fayetteville (9-5) trailed 2-0 but took the lead with a three-run bottom of the sixth. Benton tied it with a run in the seventh, but Fayetteville and Davenport walked it off in the bottom of the inning.

Four different pitchers threw for Fayetteville, but Davenport picked up the win with an inning of relief despite giving up a run.
