New coach Nika West said the numbers on his team has steadily risen when he arrized over the summer when he was hired.

“We had 11 or 12 at summer practices,” said West, who led Springdale Har-Ber to a Class 6A-7A state team title a year ago. “We’re up to 36 now with our football kids out. Twenty-seven of those 36 are freshmen or sophomores.”
The Purple’Dogs finished third in the consolation bracket last weekend in the NWA Duals. Brady and Bryce Arroyos form a solid 1-2 punch in the lineup. But West also likes what he’s seen from sophomore Matt Muller (195) and Evan Johnson at 152.

“The last dual we had against Mountain Home was encouraging,” West said. “We saw them starting to put moves together.”
Fayetteville will compete in the Poteau (Okla) Invitaitonal this weekend.
