Jessica Phelan
Coach Jessica Phelan played volleyball at the University of Arkansas, where she earned two First Team All-Southeastern Conference honors and was named the school’s first All American, earning second team honors in 1997. She was also named first team Academic All American in 1998 and was the first University of Arkansas Scholar-Athlete to earn the H. Boyd McWhorter SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year Award and post graduate scholarship. She was named the NCAA Woman of the Year for the State of Arkansas; and in 1998 was named to the USA A2 squad and trained at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Spring. She was inducted into the Razorback Hall of Honor in 2011. Coach Phelan played high school volleyball for Linda Lampkin and the Hermann (MO) Bearcats, where she was a two-time state champion and two time all-state player and broke the 2A state tournament record for kills and blocks. Jessica Phelan has served as the head volleyball coach at Fayetteville High for 14 seasons and has a career record of 310-130-9. She has been named the 7A West coach of the year four times and has served as an assistant coach in the All-Star game on three occasions. She served as the Head coach for the West All Stars and was the named the State of Arkansas Volleyball Coach of the Year for the 2012-2013. She was named the All-Arkansas Preps Volleyball Coach of the Year for the 2016-17 school year. In addition, Coach Phelan has coached for nine seasons at Ozark Juniors Volleyball Club. A long-time resident of Northwest Arkansas, she was featured in the Fayetteville Insider’s Guide in 2014. In addition to coaching duties, Coach Phelan teaches Advanced Placement Psychology and has served as an AP reader. Coach Phelan is married to FHS tennis coach, Darin Phelan. Darin is a 1993 graduate of Fayetteville High School and the couple have three children (Tyler, Kennedy, and Lucas)
